Postoperative Instructions

  1. Use appropriate dose of acetaminophen (Tylenol) for pain control. Tylenol with Codeine may be prescribed.

  2. Do not use aspirin.

  3. Call for a persistent fever.

  4. Your child may have food and drink as tolerated.

  5. Your child may have burning, stinging, blood in the urine for the first 48 hours after the procedure.

  6. It is okay for your child to sit in the bathtub to urinate to help with bladder pain.

  7. Your child may resume all activities the next day. It is okay for your child to return to school/daycare.

  8. Renal ultrasound will be done approximately 3-4 weeks after the procedure with a return visit to see the doctor and review of the results.

  9. Please have your child stay on antibiotics until next visit.
