Postoperative Instructions
Circumcision, Scrotalized Penis Repair, Penile Detorsion, Chordee

- Use appropriate dose of acetaminophen (Tylenol) for pain control. Tylenol with Codeine may be prescribed.
- Do not use aspirin.
- No tub baths for four (4) days. Sponge bathing only.
- Call anytime for excessive swelling, bleeding, infection, or persistent fever.
- The stitches will dissolve out on their own in approximately two to four (2-4) weeks.
- It will take several weeks for the wound to heal. Initially there may be some swelling and bruising.
- Your child should not use riding toys for the first week.
- Your child may have food and drink as tolerated.
- If a dressing is in place:
- Remove it the morning after surgery.
- Apply triple antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin) four (4) times a day to the suture line for five (5) days.
- If there is no dressing, then wound glue was applied over the sutures. No special care is needed. Do not use antibiotic ointments.
